Profile:
Stephen Claus is Head of the Charity & Social Enterprise Team. Stephen was born and educated in Merseyside area. He joined our the Brabners Chaffe Street Charities and Social Enterprise Unit on 1 May 2008 from a leading Midlands firm for whom he worked for two years, and in which he was Head of Charities. Stephen was also the Deputy Diocesan Registrar for the Diocese of Birmingham. Prior to that Stephen worked as a legal advisor with the Charity Commission, a post he held for just under 14 years. Stephen is experienced in all aspects of Charity Law. During his time at the Charity Commission he was the lead lawyer in Scargill and Cave v Charity Commission, and also lead the only High Court case to date to be brought under the Charities Act 1993 by the Commission against Trustees. Stephen has been appointed as one of the 5 legally qualified members of the Charity Appeal Tribunal.
