Profile:
Julie’s expertise is in the area of contentious environmental matters. She qualified in 1990 and prior to joining Brabners Chaffe Street spent 11 years at the Environment Agency as a Principal Solicitor. Having previously prosecuted offenders, Julie now provides advice and representation to companies or individuals facing such action by the Environment Agency, Local Authorities or other Regulators. She has an in-depth knowledge of the Environment Agency’s internal policies and procedures, has trained Enforcement Officers and given guidance to Magistrates on the sentencing of environmental offences. Julie has experience in water pollution, waste regulation, waste packaging, environmental licences, PPC Permits, water abstraction licences and discharge consents. This experience enables Julie to provide advice and representation on a wide range of environmental matters. Julie also provides bespoke regulatory compliance advice as a preventative measure, to ensure businesses are complying with all environmental legislation which could affect their business. In addition she provides support on non-contentious transactional matters to assess and negotiate responsibility for environmental risks and liabilities on the acquisition and/or disposal of both property and businesses.
