At Brabners Chaffe Street we've advised both rights holders and sponsors on sponsorship deals valued at more than £1.25 billion. That's more than 175 individual deals, representing sponsors, federations, events, clubs and individual athletes. We've worked on deals in over 30 product categories. Oh, and weĆ've advised two out of the first three Tier 1 sponsors on their London 2012 deals.
Merchandising
The team has also advised extensively in the area of licensed merchandise, whether as part of sponsorship contracts or as separate deals, and is widely regarded as a market leader.
Our experience includes:
– Advising two of the first three companies to sign up to become Tier One sponsors of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, including advising adidas UK on its deal with The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) to become the Official Sportswear Partner of London 2012".
– Advising adidas UK on its agreements to provide the British Olympic Association and the British Paralympic Association with kit for the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Summer Games and the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.
– Advising adidas International on its sponsorship agreement with FIFA (with respect to all FIFA events 2007 - 2014) and advising adidas UK on its sponsorship agreements with Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC.
– Advising Manchester United FC regarding the transfer of certain parts of its merchandising business to Nike for a period of 13 years for a fee (combined with sponsorship) totalling £302 million. Also, advising Manchester United FC on aspects of its retained merchandising business, with particular emphasis on its electronic and other publishing arrangements.
– Advising Manchester United FC on certain aspects of its club, kit and other sponsor rights programmes, including its multi-million pound contracts with (amongst others) Nike, Vodafone, Anheuser-Busch (Budweiser), Kumho Tires, Audi, Pepsi, Ladbrokes, AirAsia and Fujifilm.
– Advising Lloyds TSB on several rugby union sponsorships, including the IRB Rugby World Cup and its agreements with the Rugby Football Union, the Welsh Rugby Union and the Scottish Rugby Union.
– Advising Lloyds TSB on endorsement agreements with various leading international golfers, including Nick Faldo, Justin Rose, Colin Montgomerie, Ian Woosnam, and Laura Davies.
– Advising the Football Association on the acquisition of personal sponsorship and endorsement rights for the England Manager, Fabio Capello, and his back room staff.
– Advising South Africa's Premier Soccer League, the governing body for top flight football in South Africa, on its sponsorship deals with ABSA Bank, Nedbank, MTN (a FIFA World Cup sponsor), Vodacom, Telkom, AfriSam and Castle Lager.
– Advising Coors Brewers on its sponsorships of Celtic FC, Rangers FC, Newcastle United FC and the Football League Carling Cup, which form part of its sponsorship programme for the Carling brand.
– Advising Leicester Tigers RUFC on its record breaking sponsorship deal with Caterpillar, believed to be the largest ever in world club rugby.
– Advising FINA, the world governing body for swimming and the other aquatic sports, on all of its sponsorship issues, including deals with Omega, Yakult, Sankyo and Astralpool.
– Advising LEN, the European governing body for swimming and the other aquatic sports, on all of its sponsorship arrangements, including deals with Arena and Omega.
– Advising a major multi-national brand on its sponsorship of one of Europe's leading multi-purpose indoor arenas.
– Advising Newcastle Falcons RUFC on its sponsorship deals with Northern Rock, KooGa and Hilton Hotels.
– Advising the Gaelic Athletic Association on its sponsorship and merchandising programme.
