Leading housing experts to speak in Liverpool
28/09/2010North West businesses will have the chance to quiz some of the leading names from the housing sector at a conference in Liverpool which covers the wide-ranging challenges currently facing housing associations.
The conference, titled Changing Times, will be hosted by North West Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors, Mitchell Charlesworth, together with leading North West law firm, Brabners Chaffe Street LLP.
Now firmly established as one of the leading social housing events in the region, the conference will explore the implications of the new housing landscape on policy and strategy.
Max Steinberg, chief executive at Liverpool Vision, Cllr Richard Kemp and HCA North West regional director, Deborah McLaughlin will join the conference as key note speakers, examining the economic realities facing the sector and considering the real impact of spending cuts.
Social housing specialists from Mitchell Charlesworth and Brabners Chaffe Street LLP, along with several sector experts, will also present a series of workshops, offering practical advice on a range of topics specific to the sector including housing management, finance, employment and communications.
Alistair Fletcher, a partner at Brabners Chaffe Street LLP said: “This conference comes at a critical time in the economic recovery and addresses some of the key issues facing the sector.”
Paul Wainwright, a partner at Mitchell Charlesworth, which along with Brabners Chaffe Street LLP, is nationally recognised for its work with housing associations, added: “We are seeing the first stages of an upturn in the North West with a drop in unemployment for the third consecutive month last month. That said, waiting lists for social housing continue to rise and it is important to tackle this issue head on and try to reduce pressure on the sector.”
The conference will be held at the BT Convention Centre, Liverpool on Friday, 5 November. For further information, or to book a place, contact Lisa Alty at Brabners Chaffe Street LLP on 0151 600 3022.
