ThePreston firm becomes patron of the country's biggest 'green' business association

Brabners Chaffe Street in Preston has become a patron of the county`s biggest ėgreen` business association.

It is joining the likes of Rolls-Royce, BAE SYSTEMS and Baxi Potterton as a leading supporter of the Lancashire Business Environment Association (LBEA).

The organisation aims to provide its 360 plus members with cost-effective advice on how to reduce the environmental impact of their businesses.

Environmental lawyer Simon Colvin, who works out of Brabners Chaffe Street`s Preston headquarters on Chapel Street, said the firm is looking forward to working closely with the LBEA not only as a patron member but also in helping to advise fellow members, as well as helping to deliver training on relevant and topical areas of environmental law.

He said: `Becoming a patron member of the Association underlines our commitment to being more environmentally-conscious ourselves as well as helping other local businesses understand and comply with their own obligationsī.

`Over the course of the last year, we as a business have begun implementing a number of measures aimed at improving our own environmental performance across our three offices in Preston, Liverpool and Manchester.ī

Initiatives already introduced include a greater emphasis on the recycling of waste paper and printer cartridges, using Fair Trade or recycled products wherever possible and vetting the ėgreen` credentials of suppliers as well as looking at energy and water consumption and the use of different forms of transport.

The Lancashire Business Environment Association is an initiative of Business Link, Groundwork Blackburn and ENWORKS. As well as advice on general ėgreen` business issues, it provides on-site consultations, runs seminars and workshops, and a 24-hour telephone helpline.
