New quay chalet park to be given £20m redevelopment by new owners
9/05/2008A popular holiday village in west Wales will be given a £20m redevelopment after it was acquired for a seven figure sum.
Woodlands Holiday Village in New Quay, Ceredigion, has been bought by Songbird Leisure, part of The Dream Lodge Group, for £2 million.
The deal was completed by property associate Paul Nicholls of Manchester law firm Brabners Chaffe Street.
Paul Holloway, chairman of The Dream Lodge Group, said: "The purchase of Woodlands Holiday Village is a strategic move in the expansion of our group, who intend to invest £20 million into the site as part of a major redevelopment programme.
"This will include completely rebuilding all of the accommodation at the park.
"It is a very popular destination in west Wales, and we look forward to maintaining its valued reputation amongst holiday makers."
Mr Nicholls added: "With the onset of tighter economic condition, it is expected that more holidaymakers will remain in the UK this year, and locations such as the west Welsh coast will surely feel the benefit.
"The Dream Lodge Group`s latest acquisition may therefore prove particularly astute if reports of an improved summer this year are accurate."
The chalet park, which contains 114 units, is situated less than a mile from Cei Bach Beach at New Quay in Cardigan Bay.
Facilities include a heated swimming pool and a clubhouse with a bar and a takeaway restaurant.
It is significant addition to The Dream Lodge Group`s portfolio of holiday parks, which include properties in Cumbria, Devon, Cornwall and Sussex.
