Brabners Chaffe Street advises on BWMacfarlane LLP merger
24/02/2011
Peter Taaffe, formerly sole principal of Bresnan Walsh, is now managing partner of BWMacfarlane LLP, a firm of almost 50 staff, while Macfarlane + Co's Paul Kurthausen, Rob Macfarlane and Anne Morris are continuing as partners in the new practice. Both firms have a long history of acting for high net worth individuals, SMEs and a combined total of 135 charities.
Currently BWMacfarlane LLP operates from offices in Temple Square and Cunard Building but the intention is to move the practice into one new office, which has already been identified.
David Tournafond, Partner at Brabners Chaffe Street who advised on the merger comments: “We are delighted to have played a part in advising on the merger which will create a significant Liverpool based practice with great expertise in charities and trust tax planning.”
Peter Taaffe managing partner of BWMacfarlane LLP said: “The most important benefit of the merger is that nothing will change so far as our client services are concerned, with our particular and shared emphasis on quality of service, approachability and friendliness. It's not often that you find firms that have such a similar tradition and ethos of client centred service. This merger will provide BWMacfarlane LLP with a very strong base to move forward and to develop and build on our services to our clients. As an old friend of the Macfarlane + Co partners after working at the same firm many years ago, I look forward to working with them again.”
David Maples, Corporate Partner at Brabners Chaffe Street also advised Bresnan Walsh on the merger.
