Soapstar joins Brabners to launch charity support
5/03/2008
Preston-born Tupele, who stars as Kelly Crabtree in the soap opera, dropped into Brabners Chaffe Street`s Chapel Street office to mark the occasion.
The firm selected the charity as the leading beneficiary of its fundraising work during 2008 following a poll of staff and is planning a series of ëextreme` events.
Staff members will brave shark-infested waters, jump thousands of feet from moving airplanes, tackle white water rafting expeditions and embark on many other challenges to raise money for the charity.
`We have always placed fundraising very high on our agenda, and we are looking forward to a year of very interesting activities. Swimming with sharks is certainly a new one for us,î said Brabners Chaffe Street`s Ross Shine, commercial property partner at the firm`s Preston office.
`The New Children`s Hospital Appeal is supporting projects within the new children`s hospital which will care for children across the North West and it is close to the hearts of many of staff members here.î
Due to open in 2009, the New Children`s Hospital in Manchester will be the largest in the UK. Thanks to the £20m appeal the hospital will feature the very latest equipment for diagnosis and treatment and provide accommodation for parents wishing to stay with their children.
It is part of The New Hospitals Development, an investment in excess of £420 million, the largest of its kind ever to take place in Greater Manchester Hospitals.
Sarah Naismith, head of appeals for The New Children`s Hospital, said: `Work is well underway on the project, which will benefit the lives of children and their families across the North West.
`We are delighted that Brabners Chaffe Street has nominated us as its lead charity for 2008 and also look forward to hearing the tales of those taking part in some of the exciting activities the firm has planned.î
Last year, Brabners Chaffe Street raised more than £30,000 for charity across its Preston, Liverpool and Manchester offices, £5,000 of which included supporting local charities, in particular St Catherine`s Hospice.
