New addition has right chemistry for Brabners Chaffe Street
8/11/2008A former pharmacist is enjoying a successful second career as a solicitor in the Liverpool office of Brabners Chaffe Street.
Richard Hough, who spent 15 years as a pharmacist, has joined the firm's commercial team and will be helping to expand its work in the healthcare sector, specifically with community pharmacy groups across the UK.
The team advises pharmacy owners on a range of issues from acquisitions and disposals to supplier contracts and property.
Richard qualified as one of the UK's youngest ever pharmacists in 1990 after graduating with a BSc (Hons) Pharmacy from Manchester University aged 19. Following his qualification he undertook various pharmacy management roles in the UK and Australia.
He was awarded first class honours in his LLB degree and won the Cavendish Prize for attaining the highest aggregate marks out of over 3,000 students. Richard undertook his law study in his spare time while managing a busy medical centre community pharmacy.
Commenting on his appointment, Richard said: “Independent pharmacists play a crucial role in the delivery of community healthcare services. The combination of my direct sector experience and the firm's wider legal expertise places us in an ideal position to advise pharmacy owners on their growth strategies.”
Nik White, partner and head of commercial at Brabners Chaffe Street in Liverpool, said: “Richard joins us with a unique skill set and his extensive experience in the pharmacy sector will be a real asset for our clients in the sector.”
