Manchester lawyers advise on sale of Flowcrete to US firm

A team from Manchester-based law firm Brabners Chaffe Street LLP advised global flooring specialists Flowcrete on its sale to US firm RPM International Inc.

Corporate partner Robert Street led a team that advised Flowcrete's chairman Dawn Gibbins MBE, Mark Greaves and other shareholders on the transaction.

Other lawyers from Brabners Chaffe Street involved in the deal included Terry Montague and Mark Traynor.

Mark Greaves, managing director of Flowcrete Group Plc, said: "I have been delighted with the service that Brabners Chaffe Street offered on this transaction, putting as many as 15 staff at our disposal to complete the deal prior to the 5th April tax deadline."

Flowcrete is widely regarded as one of the most notable business success stories in the UK, with chairman Dawn Gibbins MBE being awarded awarded 'Pioneer to the Life of our Nation' by Her Majesty the Queen in 2004 and also the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year Award in 2003.

Flowcrete, which has its UK base in Sandbach, Cheshire, is globally renowned as one of the leading suppliers of a variety of flooring services.

They include resin floor finishes, seamless terrazzo, industrial flooring, floor screeds, underfloor heating and car-park decking.

The firm was established in 1982 by father and daughter team Peter and Dawn Gibbins, having designed a sugar resistant flooring system for Mars Confectionery, its first customer and still a customer today.

RPM International Inc. is a multinational holding company with subsidiaries that manufacture and market high-performance coatings, sealants and speciality chemicals, primarily for maintenance and improvement.

RPM's 2007 sales were $3.3 billion, with 63 per cent to industry worldwide and the remaining 37 percent to consumers mainly in North America.
