Manchester lawyer limbers up for Marathon

Manchester solicitor David Eames is gearing up to take to the streets of the capital for charity at the weekend. David, who works for leading North West law firm Brabners Chaffe Street, is running the London Marathon and has already raised £1600 for the firm's chosen charity of 2011, Marie Curie Cancer Care.

David aims to raise at least £2000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care and complete the gruelling 26 mile trek around London in 3 hours and 45 minutes.

This is David's first marathon but he is well prepared for the physical challenge ahead of him having finished three half marathons and completed 16 weeks of training covering 623 miles and 94 hours of running, during which time he has gone through 4 pairs of socks!

David said: “I've been training hard and feel ready for the challenge ahead. Marie Curie Cancer Care does incredible work and it spurs me on to think that for each mile I run, I will be raising money that will have a real effect on people's lives. It is a fantastic cause and, I'm sure you'll agree, one which deserves our attention and support.”

The London Marathon, which attracts around 30,000 runners, takes place on 17 April.
