Liverpool firms join forces to host free family business seminar

The Liverpool offices of leading law firm Brabners Chaffe Street and chartered accountants Howard Hackney LLP are joining forces to host a free seminar for family businesses.

The two hour round table seminar, which takes place at 4pm on Tuesday 11 May at Horton House, Liverpool, will provide practical guidance on tackling the issues faced by many family-owned firms, from succession planning, Lasting Power of Attorney documents and death benefits in trust, to advice on protecting company assets in the divorce court.

Speaking at the event will be Brabners Chaffe Street`s Mark Feeny, head of private client, Denise Walker, head of corporate, Duncan Bailey, private client partner, Helen Marriott, head of family and Howard Hackney, founder of Howard Hackney LLP.

Denise Walker said: "Statistics show that only 10 per cent of family businesses survive beyond the third of generation, despite being a key contributor to the UK economy. In this seminar we`ll be giving advice on strategies and tactics that can help ensure the longevity of family-run firms and their owners."
