Lawyers go on the run for charity!
7/04/2008
The number of entrants is expected to be one of the largest from a single firm in the city, with the participants at Brabners Chaffe Street LLP raising funds for The New Children's Hospital Appeal.
Brabners Chaffe Street's runners were joined by Coronation Street star Tupele Dorgu, who plays Kelly Crabtree in the soap opera, to launch the firm's training schedule.
Tupele, along with other famous faces such as Commonwealth lightweight boxing champion Amir Khan and Waterloo Road actor Jason Done, will also be running in aid of The New Children's Hospital Appeal.
Jeff Lewis, a partner at Brabners Chaffe Street LLP, said: "Having so many staff members volunteering to run the 10K this year is fantastic news not only for our fundraising efforts, but also for staff morale.
"With 42 participants in total, it will mean that motivational levels will be very high in the run-up to the event and we look forward to some healthy competition amongst the participants."
The Great Manchester Run will take place on May 18 and will see 31,000 runners take to the streets to get involved in one of the fastest growing sporting events in the world.
Brabners Chaffe Street LLP selected The New Children's Hospital Appeal as the leading beneficiary of its fundraising work during 2008 following a poll of staff.
Due to open in 2009, the New Children's Hospital in Manchester will be the largest in the UK. Thanks to the £20m appeal the hospital will feature the very latest equipment for diagnosis and treatment and provide accommodation for parents wishing to stay with their children.
Over the course of this year, staff members at Brabners Chaffe Street LLP will be swimming with sharks, skydiving and white water rafting amongst other activities to raise money for The New Children's Hospital Appeal and other charities.
Last year, the firm raised more than £30,000 for charity and hopes to improve on this success in 2008.
