Law firm organises mass unwanted items collection for local charity shops
31/05/2011
Clothing was the most popular donation and the most unusual item given was a Sudoku loo roll!
In addition, the leading NW law firm has already raised £10,300 for Marie Curie Cancer Care, its chosen charity for 2011.
Mark Brandwood, Managing Partner at Brabners Chaffe Street commented: “Rather than just encourage staff to make financial contributions, we are keen to provide a variety of ways to donate to our chosen charity. With Marie Curie Cancer Care charity shops looking for unwanted items to sell, this seemed the ideal way to contribute. Our fundraising efforts continue to raise a significant amount of money for a very good cause.”
As part of its CSR strategy Brabners Chaffe Street has a dedicated charity committee who are organising fundraising events over the year including supermarket collections, quiz nights, cake sales and auctions. Annual events already in the calendar include a tea party which links up with Marie Curie's Blooming Great Tea Party promotion taking place between 12 June to 12 July, the Charity Challenge on 2 July, an action-packed weekend of canoeing, cycling and hill climbing in the Lake District where teams from different companies across the North West compete to finish the course in the fastest time and ‘Brabners: the Big Idea', an Apprentice-style contest involving one team from each of the firm's offices competing against each other to raise the most money for the charity. In addition staff will be encouraged to volunteer and participate in Marie Curie Cancer Care's own collections and events.
