Firm takes Marie Curie fundraising campaign to new heights
8/06/2011

Legal professionals from leading NW law firm Brabners Chaffe Street have launched their latest fundraising initiative as they count down the months before setting off on the world's most spectacular trekking adventure in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

In late October a team from the firm's Liverpool office will travel to Peru to trek the famous Inca Trail to Machu Picchu to raise funds for the charity. They will take on a strenuous 4 day trek covering 45km, hiking between 5 to 8 hours per day, at altitudes of between 8,000 to 14,000 feet. The team will have to overcome altitude sickness and follow the ancient paved route through mountain scenery, subtropical jungle and lush cloud forest to reach the Inca ruins.

The team, made up of Amy Roberts, Claire Feely, Graham Evans, Natalie Hargreaves and Employment Partner, Nick Campbell, aim to raise at least £1,000 each in sponsorship, over and above the cost of the trip, which will go directly to local Marie Curie Cancer Care services. They have launched a calendar of fundraising events including a race night, a summer BBQ, a "Woolton 12" pub crawl, a pie and pint night and a Sportsman's Dinner.

The local business community has already shown its support for the challenge - high profile corporate sponsors include Deutsche Bank, Duncan Sheard Glass, Financial Planning Corporation and Edward Symmons.

Mark Brandwood, Managing Partner at Brabners Chaffe Street commented: “Our team of intrepid trekkers have already received some fantastic support from the local business community for the Inca Trail Challenge 2011. Marie Curie Cancer Care is our firm's chosen charity for 2011 and we are delighted staff are taking part in this challenge to raise much needed funds for such a worthy cause. The planned calendar of fundraising activities should encourage plenty of donations along the way and help raise the profile of the charity throughout the North West.”
