Brabners employees help riase £10,000 for charity
29/07/2007

Lawyers from Brabners Chaffe Street are to embark on a marathon challenge in the Lake District in an effort to raise £10,000 for a North West children`s charity.

The firm has organised this weekend`s gruelling event which will see 12 teams from the region`s business community battle it out by canoe, bike and foot in aid of the Claire House hospice.

A 10-mile paddle across the length of Lake Windemere in a three-man Canadian canoe will be followed by a 28-mile bike ride from Ambleside to Wasdale Head.

The contest is likely to conclude 12 hours after it starts when the last entrants complete a four-mile ascent and descent of England`s highest peak ñ the 3,210-foot Scafell Pike in Cumbria.

Six teams representing staff from Brabners Chaffe Street`s offices in Preston, Liverpool and Manchester will take on teams from Booth`s Supermarkets and BDO Stoy Hayward in the event - the latest tiring leg of Brabner Chaffe Street`s attempts to support good causes across the North West.

In June, all three offices were represented on an arduous ascent of Morocco`s Mount Toubkal, the highest point in North Africa, which generated £6,000 for Claire House.

And last year, two of the firm`s Preston lawyers scaled the highest points in England, Scotland and Wales in 24-hours to raise £3,000 for St Catherine`s Hospice in Preston.

Environment solicitor Simon Colvin said: `It`s going to be tough, tiring and sweaty but lots of fun. The element of competition will also help to spur people on to the finish line.î
