Brabners Chaffe Street staff dig deep
13/11/2009Staff at Brabners Chaffe Street have had their generosity rewarded with a national award from Workplace Giving UK. More than 20% of the leading North West law firm's workforce donates to charity - way above the national average of just 3%.
The firm has implemented a Workplace Giving scheme, which enables staff to give to charity straight from their pay - these schemes have helped to raise £2million for charity this year alone. Anne Snelgrove MP, who backs the Geared for Giving Campaign and presented the award, believes, “It is vital to spread the word that Workplace Giving is the most effective way to donate. Charities estimate they lose nearly one billion pounds a year through inefficient giving.”
“Payroll Giving has proved to be an efficient and flexible way of helping our people support their charities of choice,” said Nicola Quinn, director of HR at Brabners Chaffe Street. “We are delighted that our scheme has been a continued success”.
Brabners Chaffe Street has additionally raised over £28K this year for its nominated charity, Macmillan Cancer Support through a range of activities, including the recent Big Idea event - where two teams of wannabe entrepreneurs from the firm were challenged to make as much profit as possible from a £50 stake in six hours.
