Brabners Chaffe Street organises charity challenge
28/06/2010A leading law firm has announced its plans to raise money for national charity Help for Heroes with a marathon row, ride and hike across the Lake District.
Solicitors from Brabners Chaffe Street have organised their annual gruelling charity challenge which will see them take on rival teams made up of clients in the 12-hour event in aid of Help for Heroes, the firm's nominated charity for 2010.
The challenge begins with an arduous 10 mile bike ride to Coniston Water, followed by a backbreaking 3.5 miles Canadian canoe on Coniston. Next follows either a further 24 mile bike ride (through the Duddon Valley and over Wrynose Pass (1,289 ft)) or a further 12 mile bike ride (through Little Langdale). Participants can then finish with either a 7 mile ‘walk' up Bowfell (2,960 ft) or a 4 mile walk up Harrison Stickle (2,415 ft).
It is the latest energy-sapping fundraiser by the North West based law firm. Last year the event raised in excess of £12,500 and over the last five years has raised a mammoth £35,000.
The event, which takes place on Saturday 10 July, has attracted 15 teams of 3 consisting of Brabners Chaffe Street employees and their clients and contacts. If you would like to make a contribution please visit the Just Giving page http://www.justgiving.com/bcscharitychallenge2010/.
Help for Heroes is a national charity and their focus is to support those wounded in the current conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq but it also benefits the Navy, Army and Royal Air Force.
