4/01/2011

Leading North West law firm Brabners Chaffe Street has nominated Marie Curie Cancer Care as it chosen charity for 2011. The firm has chosen to support Marie Curie Cancer Care services which are local to each of its offices in Liverpool, Manchester and Preston.

Marie Curie Cancer Care came first in a staff vote and the partnership was announced at the firm's staff conference towards the end of last year.

As part of its CSR strategy Brabners Chaffe Street has a dedicated charity committee who will organise fundraising events over the coming year including supermarket collections, quiz nights, cake sales and auctions. Annual events already in the calendar include the Charity Challenge, an action-packed weekend of canoeing, cycling and hill climbing in the Lake District where teams from different companies across the North West compete to finish the course in the fastest time and ‘Brabners: the Big Idea', an Apprentice-style contest involving one team from each of the firm's offices competing against each other to raise the most money for the charity. In addition staff will be encouraged to volunteer and participate in Marie Curie Cancer Care's own collections and events.

Mark Brandwood, Managing Partner at Brabners Chaffe Street commented: “We're delighted to be working with Marie Curie Cancer Care as our chosen charity for 2011. Our staff always put a lot of thought and effort into our fundraising activities and it's our aim to raise a significant amount of money for a very good cause in a creative and entertaining way.”

Brian Curran of Marie Curie Cancer Care said: “Everyone involved with Marie Curie Cancer Care is delighted that Brabners Chaffe Street has chosen us as their Charity of the Year and we are looking forward to working with them. Their fundraising efforts will enable our nurses to continue to care for terminally ill people throughout the North West.”

Last year the firm raised over £33,500 for its 2010 chosen charity Help for Heroes.
