Brabners Chaffe Street advises SITA UK on transfer of shareholdings

The Liverpool office of Brabners Chaffe Street has advised waste management, recycling and resource business SITA UK on two key shareholding transfers, marking the end of a busy year for the law firm`s corporate team.

Maidenhead-based SITA UK has sold its 50 per cent shareholding in waste disposal service LondonWaste to the North London Waste Authority (NLWA) for an undisclosed sum. Aligned to the transaction, SITA UK has acquired ownership of all of the share capital of Polkacrest from LondonWaste, also for an undisclosed sum.

Mark Rathbone, Partner at Brabners Chaffe Street`s Liverpool office, said: "These transactions free up significant resources for SITA UK and are strategically important to both parties. We were delighted to play a role in supporting the two shareholding transfers."

SITA UK's chief executive, David Palmer-Jones, said: "We understand the importance of this facility to the NLWA's procurement process and are pleased that the close partnership between the NLWA and SITA UK has enabled us to come to an understanding which facilitates the NLWA's plans for the future."

The deal represents the latest in a series of transactions handled by Brabners Chaffe Street, which has offices in Liverpool, Preston and Manchester. According to Corpfin data, the firm advised on 18 deals last year with an aggregate value of £72m, making it the 5th most active corporate law team in the North West.
