Brabners Chaffe Street advises Multipart on outsourcing deal
29/06/2009

The Manchester office of leading law firm Brabners Chaffe Street has advised Multipart Solutions on a major outsourcing contract with bus and coach manufacturer Optare Group.

Under the arrangement, Chorley-based Multipart, which provides parts and components logistics to the automotive, defence and utility sectors, has taken responsibility for Optare`s aftermarket parts services.

Optare specialises in the design, manufacture and supply of single and double deck buses, coaches and smaller vehicles. The company, which led the move to `low floor` vehicles in the UK, is increasingly focussing on fuel-efficient and higher capacity buses, providing operators with lower emission alternatives to traditional diesel-powered vehicles.

Multipart, which operates from a new, purpose built 250,000 square feet distribution centre in Chorley, was advised by Tony Harper and Jamie Partridge, Head of Corporate and Associate respectively at Brabners Chaffe Street in Manchester.

Tony Harper said: "The trend towards outsourcing is intensifying in the current economic climate as companies focus harder on their core competencies while using specialist partners to deliver other aspects of their business more efficiently and cost effectively.

"With its commitment to high quality service standards, Multipart is well placed to capitalise on this development and consolidate its position in the specialist supply chain solutions market."

The outsourcing deal follows a management buy-out at Multipart in July 2008, on which Brabners Chaffe Street`s Tony Harper and Leo Carroll also advised.
