Lawyers at Manchester-based Brabners Chaffe Street advised professional services firm Begbies Traynor Group plc on its acquisition of Fanshawe Lofts.

The addition of the Southampton and Bath-based business will further the AIM-listed group`s provision in the areas of insolvency, business recovery and corporate finance.

The team at Brabners Chaffe Street that advised on the deal included corporate partner Caroline Litchfield, employment partner Simon Whitehead, property associate Paul Nicholls and trainee solicitor Caroline Brennan.

The deal is the latest of a number of acquisitions that Brabners Chaffe Street have secured for Begbies Traynor Group, which has its head office on Deansgate, Manchester, and a turnover in excess of £50m.

Julie Palmer, partner with responsibility for the group`s Southampton, Salisbury and Bournemouth offices, says: "Fanshawe Lofts is a well established and respected firm and will add significantly to our offering on the south coast.

"Our respective services are highly complementary and our combined strength will make us the leading player in our local market."

Caroline Litchfield added: "As demand for corporate insolvency and business recovery advice soars in the current market, Begbies Traynor Group is increasingly securing its status as a leading provider across the UK.

"Its latest acquisition will further this progress and provide additional streams of work from the key markets in the south of England."

Fanshawe Lofts was established in 1990 and specialises in corporate advice to businesses that generate between £1m and £50m annual turnover.

Fanshawe Lofts` senior partner Antony Fanshawe commented: "We are delighted to be joining Begbies Traynor Group. The move will enable us to benefit from this national, highly respected brand, making us a formidable competitor in this market."
