Boom in Brabners business
4/10/2007

The rapidly-changing nature of relationships in Britain has helped leading law firm Brabners Chaffe Street to another bumper year of business.

The firm`s Family division has reported that the value of work it has handled over the last year has broken the £150 million barrier.

This year`s figure marks a 50 per cent increase over the previous 12 months and is attributed to `significant growthî in demand for the team`s expertise across a broad range of financial arrangements between couples.

Helen Marriott, head of the firm`s family division, said its reputation and flexibility had attracted more professional and high value clients.

`The volume of work we`re seeing reflects how relationships are shifting. The growth is not only down to more traditional business, such as divorce and ancillary relief. We`re seeing increases in demand for advice on all financial aspects of either setting up home together or separation, with pre-nuptial and cohabitation agreements being particularly popular.

`Because we have built up a wealth of experience in dealing sensitively with complicated circumstances such as these over many years, we have not only become a trusted point of contact for all sorts of Family Law enquiries for people from right across the North West but the rest of the country too.î

Brabners Chaffe Street`s growth in Family Law work bears out Government data showing that while divorce rates have slowed, there has been a marked increase in the number of cohabitation deals being struck.

The firm`s announcement of extra work also comes as the Family division welcomes solicitor Katherine Livesey back from maternity leave.
