BCS Training course graduates celebrate

The firm ran two courses in Liverpool and Manchester and had eighteen learners, seven of whom opted to work towards achieving their level 2 qualification, which involved having to undertake assessments throughout the day and complete a post course assignment.
All were successful and include Geraldine Chapple, Finance Admin Manager of RS Clare & Co, Rachel Lewis, Tax Senior of Rathbones, Tom Keenan, Finance Manager of EdICTs Limited, Gill Holmes, Head of Finance & Estates of Age Concern Liverpool, Gary French, then Finance Director of Manchester United Foundation and Sue Rogers, Business Manager of Woodchurch High School Trust.
BCS Training is an exciting training initiative aimed at building the capacity of organisations and individuals within the Third Sector through the delivery of expert training packages that have been specifically designed with charity trustees, employees and volunteers in mind.
Stephen Claus, Partner and Head of Charity & Social Enterprise, the team that runs BCS Training at Brabners Chaffe Street comments: “We are delighted with the 100% pass rate of those who chose to take their level 2 qualification on our Company Secretarial course. Whilst the Companies Act 2006 has removed the need for companies to have a company secretary, the functions of the company secretary have not gone away and need to be picked up by a director or someone within the company if a company secretary is not appointed. Failure to carry out the duties that ordinarily fall to the company secretary can see the company incur penalties. It is therefore more important than ever that companies fully understand the role and responsibilities of a company secretary so that they can be performed with confidence and without fear of repercussions.”
Due to popular demand BCS Training is running the Company Secretarial Course again on Wednesday 2 February 2011 at Horton House, Liverpool from 9.30am to 4pm.
The course is aimed at charitable companies and would benefit established company secretaries seeking to understand the changes that have come in with the Companies Act 2006 and how they impact, new company secretaries who are looking to know the fundamentals of the job and directors or those that will be taking on these responsibilities.

*The role of the Company Secretary Course is a level 2 customised provision (equivalent to a level 2 national qualification) which is accredited by Ascentis a national awarding body (NAB) and approved by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual).
