Brabners Chaffe Street partner scoops Young Professionals award
29/04/2009
Simon Whitehead, an employment partner at the firm, was awarded the Special Contribution award at the North West Young Professionals Award for his commitment to the firm`s business development, dedication to the region`s arts community and contributions to help junior professionals develop their contacts and business network.
Simon, 34, was responsible for the creation of Brabners in the City - a bespoke forum for junior professionals, who often found it difficult to network using the more established and traditional forums. Over 60 Manchester-based professionals attend each session of the group, and its success has led to the format rolling out to the firm`s Liverpool office.
Professionally, Simon also plays an integral part in the continued growth of the firm`s employment department, significantly increasing his responsible billings in the last financial year. His approach to marketing the practice has also resulted in a number of new client wins for the firm.
Simon is also heavily involved in the Business in the Arts organisation and a director of Oldham Coliseum Theatre. He has also combined his professional and personal commitments by undertaking a project with the M6 Theatre Company to advise on HR responsibilities and reviewing employment policies.
"The success of Brabners in the City demonstrates Simon`s excellent leadership abilities as well as his expertise in managing polished, professional and well-pitched marketing events to promote the firm to a wider audience. He is a huge asset to the firm and this award is testament to his achievements," said Mark Brandwood, managing partner of Brabners Chaffe Street`s Manchester office.
"Simon is able to balance a heavy caseload with his commitments to charities, the local and professional communities, business development as well as helping junior solicitors with their professional development," said Paul Chamberlain, head of employment, Brabners Chaffe Street. "Clients and colleagues are always hugely impressed with his dedication and high quality results."
"Brabners in the City has become a well-established part of the regional business diary, and the feedback from the participants is extremely rewarding," said Simon Whitehead, partner at Brabners Chaffe Street. "While it wasn`t conceived to win awards, it`s very flattering that the scheme has had this recognition from the Manchester professional community."
