Brabners Chaffe Street Solicitors - Employment Agencies Services

Employment Agencies

The Employment Team has a special interest and nationally-recognised expertise in the law relating to recruitment agencies and has played an active role in the UK response to the consultation on the Agency Workers Regulations.

Paul Chamberlain, Partner and Head of the firm's Manchester employment team, was appointed to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation's (REC) Agency Work Commission in 2008. Issues tackled by the Commission included the scope of the concept of 'equal treatment' in the Agency Workers Regulations and the scope for alternative dispute resolution to avoid an upsurge in unwarranted Tribunal cases.

Paul has been the appointed legal adviser to The Employment Agents' Movement (TEAM) and the Association of Labour Providers (ALP) for some years as well as working with and advising the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and is considered as a leading expert on recruitment law.

TEAM is one of the largest independent networked groups of recruitment and employment service providers in the UK. The Employment Agents' Movement (TEAM).

The Association of Labour Providers is the specialist trade association offering support and expert advice to organisations that provide and use workers within the food, agricultural and other Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA) regulated sectors. Its members also include industrial labour providers. Established in 2004, the ALP's goal is to improve the standard of labour provision whilst supporting the need for an ethically managed, cost effective and flexible labour force.

The REC is the trade body which supports and represents the recruitment industry. It seeks to influence government and business for the benefit of members and the employment market. The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).

With the Agency Worker Regulations (AWR) now in force (from 1 October 2011), it is vital businesses understand what the new legislation means for them and are compliant, particularly if a case is ever brought against them. Brabners Chaffe Street has been involved with the comprehensive consultation process and we can provide specialist knowledge and legal advice should you require it. We have issued a series of detailed bulletins providing commentary on specific areas which you might find useful. We have also worked with Lloyds bank on their AWR toolkit which is a handy reference tool, and whilst not a substitute for formal legal advice, sets out the key elements of the legislation and how it may affect your recruitment business.
