Liverpool local artwork in Brabners offices
18/09/2007
The firm has announced that it has bought more than 70 works of art for its offices in Liverpool, Manchester and Preston.
The work features interpretations of major landmarks in all three cities and has already sparked intense interest among the cultural cognoscenti in the firm`s clients and staff.
Chief executive Janet Pickavance explained that Brabners Chaffe Street`s recent move to headquarters in Liverpool`s Horton House provided an opportunity to reflect for a fresh look at the city`s world-famous skyline.
`More than merely have the somewhat cliched views of a beautiful city, we wanted something original, inspiring and eye-catching. It made sense to have that view produced by local artists who understood our new surroundings.
`But instead of concentrating on Liverpool, we decided to extend the project to both Manchester and Preston. The results have been phenomenal. The works have been a fantastic topic of conversation for staff and clients alike, and have provided a wonderful visual lift for everyone.î
The collection, which is displayed in meeting rooms, reception and staff areas in all three Brabners Chaffe Street offices, was put together in association with Altrincham firm Paint Stop.
It includes canvases and fused glass installations by Liverpool-based David Hibbert and Charlotte Melton, and fine art graduate colleagues from elsewhere in the North West, including Helene Wild and Judith Steevens.
Paintstop`s managing director Kirsty Smith said Brabners Chaffe Street`s involvement was a huge fillip for art in the region. `That a leading law firm such as this recognises the importance of local art is significant.
`Coming ahead of Liverpool being next year`s European Capital of Culture, it is yet more support to demonstrate what this region is capable of.î
