Brabners turnover doubles

The firm, which is based in Dale Street, Liverpool, says the turnover of its corporate finance department has more than doubled during the last year ñ and 80 per cent of its work includes private equity.
Private equity deals completed by the team include the management buyout of Knowsley-based Alex Stewart Assayers in a deal backed by Close Brothers Private Equity and the sourcing of £1.8million development capital investment for a highly specialised composites manufacturer from a syndicate of venture capital houses, including MSIF, Liverpool Seed Fund and the North West Equity Fund.
David Houghton, head of corporate finance and partner at Brabners Chaffe Street, said: `We have seen a huge increase in the amount of local deals involving private equity during the past 12 months.
`Private equity may have had a rough ride nationally of late but for many businesses in Merseyside it is a great way to achieve their goals.
`For a city as enterprising as Liverpool, private equity can often be crucial in providing some of the finances and options to entrepreneurs seeking to build a business.
`No one in the city is currently handling more private equity deals than the corporate finance team at Brabners.î
