Brabners Chaffe Street hosts venture capital seminar
6/01/2010Brabners Chaffe Street recently brought the corporate finance community together at a seminar in their Liverpool office designed to help businesses get to grips with regional venture capital funding availability.
The session was attended by almost 40 local bankers, accountants and solicitors and included a keynote speech from Simon Cleaver of YFM Private Equity Limited, managers of the NWDA`s venture capital fund for the North West whose Liverpool office opened in early December.
His speech included background on YFM`s past investments, which have created 15 millionaires in the North West in the past five years, and details of the Venture Capital Fund, which is designed to benefit small and medium sized companies in the region. The session was followed by a Q&A which covered topics including matched investment options.
David Houghton, Director of Corporate Finance at Brabners Chaffe Street`s Liverpool office, said: "Current economic conditions have left many SMEs unsure of the funding available to them so this seminar was a chance to bring together advisers to consider the ways to support local businesses, specifically looking at the regional venture capital offering."
Simon Cleaver of YFM added: "It was great to have a face to face session with corporate finance professionals to share ideas about the challenges facing Merseyside firms and how best to fund companies going forward."
