Brabners Chaffe Street floors competitors at 'Deal of the Year' awards
27/10/2008The £30m+ sale of global floor specialists Flowcrete has scooped Best Deal at the EN Deal of the Year awards, which recognise excellence in the corporate finance advisory community across the North West.
The company was sold to US firm RPM International Inc in April 2008 in a deal facilitated by Robert Street at Brabners Chaffe Street, who has represented Flowcrete for more than 15 years.
Flowcrete was established in 1982 by father and daughter team Peter and Dawn Gibbins, having designed a sugar resistant flooring system for Mars Confectionary. It has expanded aggressively into international markets and now has an annual turnover in excess of £50m.
Brabners Chaffe Street`s high profile corporate activity was showcased across the awards, with shortlisted nominations for Lawyer of the Year, Technology Deal of the Year and Best Deal £20-£100m - reflecting the breadth and depth of the work the team has executed over the past 12 months.
The award follows an extremely active year for the corporate team, during which it has acted on deals worth over £1bn, with recent deals including the management buy-out of Multipart from Imperial Group SA, the management buy-out of local architects practice Leach Rhodes Walker and the disposals of The Lord Group and Willows Plant.
"Flowcrete is widely regarded as one of the notable business success stories in the UK and its sale marks a major milestone in the company`s growth. The Deal of Year award is a fitting accolade for the years of dedication put into the business by its management and staff," said Robert Street, partner, Brabners Chaffe Street.
