Brabners joins forces with their European collegues in large sale
15/08/2007Lawyers from leading North West law firm Brabners Chaffe Street have joined forces with European colleagues to complete the sale of one of the continent`s largest suppliers of office furniture to a Norwegian private equity fund.
EFG European Furniture Group AB, a Swedish company has been purchased by the Ferd Private Equity Fund for an undisclosed figure. EFG, which bought Matthews Office Furniture Ltd in 1999, has its UK headquarters in Warrington and premises in St Helens.
Brabners Chaffe Street formed part of a network of legal firms across Europe in order to complete the deal on behalf of EFG, which also has sales offices in Glasgow, Birmingham and Reading.
Michael Brabner, Keith Housley, Jacqui Lloyd and Jonathan I`Anson ñ partners in Brabners Chaffe Street`s corporate, property, litigation and employment departments respectively ñ worked alongside commercial associate Matt Brown and Lindsey Kidd, an associate in the firm`s employment department.
EFG, which has its head office in Tranas, near Gothenberg, has sales operations in Norway, Finland, Denmark and France as well as the UK and Sweden. It employs 760 people across Europe and last year reported a turnover of approximately £95 million.
Until its sale to Ferd Private Equity Fund, it was owned by the Ebbe Krook family, the Siem Industrikapital investment fund, a Swedish national pension fund and a number of minority shareholders.
Each week, EFG makes more than 2,000 complete office workstations for sale across the continent.
Ferd Private Equity Fund owns a broad portfolio of businesses in the retail, petrochemical and health sectors.
